Neil Patel has shared the graphic to write an SEO Friendly Articles.Tips To Write SEO Friendly Articles

9 Steps To Write SEO friendly Articles:-

Step #1: Write Eye-Catching Awesome Headlines.

When you write an article’s heading, you almost spend 0.80 cents out of 1$.Writing an Eye-catching headline isn’t that tough, all you need to do is follow the steps that I have mentioned down in my article.

Adding Specific Numbers Into your Blog Content is the best way to attract the visitors.

According to Debra Jason, one of the reasons why using numbers to work in the headlines is because numbers are like “brain candy.” In other words, the brain is receptive to numbers.

Here is a couple of examples of posts which includes numbers in the headline.

It is how Buzzfeed.com is attracting people online.

Did you notice something in the headlines?

Did you notice something in the headlines? If you didn’t notice anything from the images, then”Look at the headlines of the articles again & you will notice that each headline includes an ODD number, Isn’t it.

Here is a Source I found on NeilPatel’s Blog-

According to Content Marketing Institute, the brain seems to believe odd numbers more than even numbers. Odd numbers also seem to help people digest and recall information more easily.

What’s more, when a headline was tweaked to include an odd number 7, click-through rate increased by 20%

b) Include Question in the Article’s Headline.

Yes, If you want to educate people with your post, then adding the question in the headline is a pretty good way to attract them. When you add a question in the headline, then people think that this article must be more – Practical, valuable & beneficial.

Here is a typical example from Blogtyrant‘s post.

Try This Formula -Number or Trigger word + Adjective + Keyword + Promise. For Example:-

5 Easy Tricks to Help You Write Catchy Headlines

Step #2: Writing In-depth Articles With Proper Anatomy.

After writing the kick-ass title for the content, you should understand your article & your audience. You should keep your article relevant to the heading & topic. Here is the proper anatomy to write SEO Friendly Articles for  Audience.

a) Introduction: Your Introduction before the main punch (points) is important. It will help your audience to hook up with your article to read it.You must explain here why they should read your article.

PN (Please Notice): – Don’t overwrite, a little intro. With the main punch is enough otherwise you will lose the audience because people don’t have enough time to read your story.

b) Lead In: After the introduction you must dive into the main points or you can add to-do list in your article. If you have mentioned the number in the article’s headline, then you can give it a punch like so here is the list of 8 must-try summer fruits.

c) Your Main Points: Now, it’s the time to mention your main points in the article. It should be well defined because it will add the weight to your post.Make sure you are writing in good amount.Keep your article’s main points between at least 700-1000 words.

d) Conclusion: It’s a good tactic if you practice writing Conclusion of your article at the end. Here you can write the main points of your article & ask people about your article. It will help you to boost your conversation in the comments section.

This article on Marketever about Making Money From Amazon Niche Site is a great example of an in-depth article.

According to SMCTV:-

The purpose of a summary is to give the reader, in an about 1/3 of the original length of an article/lecture, a clear, objective picture of the original lecture or text.  Most importantly, the summary restates only the main points of a text or a lecture without giving examples or details, such as dates, numbers or statistics.

Step #3: SEO optimized Images for the Search Engine.

Till Now, you may not realize the Importance of Images for your content & blog. But, SEO optimized Images can bring you a lot of traffic from Image section.Which will help you to generate extra visitors.

Process to Optimize Images for writing SEO Friendly Articles

a) Use clear & descriptive Image names:

If you are uploading an Image to your content, then make sure you rename the Image & change the image name which is relevant to it.For example, If I upload an image of puppy then I will change the default name of the picture to puppy.JPEG.It will help google to know what my image is about.

b) ALT tags for the Images:

Google Bots can’t read/see an Image because they are bots they are n’t humans. So it is our duty to inform Google what our content’s image is all about. For this purpose, we add ALT tags to the images.

Google panda image for seo

if you are uploading an image of Google Panda then your alt should be like this:-

Alt= ”Google panda” & your pic URL will look something like this

<img src=”http://www.shouterbuzz.com/panda.jpg”alt=”Google panda” />

c) Description for the Images:

Similar to alt tag feature description feature is used to define the image more accurately. You can add every single element related to your image in the description section.

So, How To Add ALT Tag & Description To Images?

You can give ALT tag & Description to your Images while uploading it. This feature is manually added in the WordPress you don’t need to do extra work. Here is an example:-

alt tag & description option for images

d) Size of the Images:

When you upload big size images, then it may increase your page load time. So, It is important to reduce the size of the images, but at the same time we don’t want to lose the quality of the images.

For this purpose, you can Install a plugin called  WP Smush.WP Smush strips hidden, bulky information from your images, reducing the file size without losing quality. The faster your site loads, the more Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines will like it.

Step #4: Interlinking and Anchor Text.

Interlinking is nowadays critical for SEO purpose & for bloggers own benefits as well.

Interlinking is a process of linking back to your articles & the other website articles. When you are writing an article, make sure you link back to other popular sites that will help you improve your blog ranking in search engines. Apart from that you can link back to your own blog articles so that you keep getting visitors on your old blog posts & It will help the Google to crawl your old articles”Which Is good For SEO & Ranking Purposes.”

Interlinking with Anchor Text techniques is a good SEO practice. When you are adding a link to a text, you get an option to add the title. This title works as your anchor text. For example:-

Interlinking & Anchor text

Ps- Don’t use anchor tags for main keywords when you do a guest post.

Step #5: Using H1, H2, H3 Tags in The Articles

As the name suggests, heading tags are used to differentiate the main points from the rest of your article text. In the Heading, section headers are available from h1 to h6.In case if you jump from the second header to fourth header your content’s heading structure will be broke & It will not be suitable for your blog ranking.

<h1>Main Heading/Title</h1>
<h2>Secondary Heading</h2>
<h3>Third heading</h3>
<h4>Fourth Heading</h4>
The heading tags are used to represent different sections of web page content. It has an impact on both the SEO and usability of your site.
Step #6:  Meta Description
Meta description has no effect on search engine ranking, but It has a great impact on the audience’s mind. It serves the function of advertising. The more efficiently you write it better the chances of yours to get a good CTR (Click through Rate).

Here is an example of well written Meta-Description.
meta-description-of-post
  • Things to remember about Meta-description

1.Meta Description doesn’t have any effect in Search Engine ranking directly.

2. It does affect Click Through Rate of blogs/websites.

3. Don’t forget Click Through Rate is important for ranking in Google.

So ultimately It affects our ranking in SERP (Search Engine Result Pages) which means it has a significance effect on Seach Engines. Therefore Its crucial to write a meta description which is eye-catching, descriptive & unique.

Step #7: Permalink Structure.

When we write a post title, our permalink structure integrates itself with the same text written in the post’s title. There is no problem with that, but your post’s title may contain some stop words hence they are integrating to your permalink as well which is n’t good for SEO.

Stop words are those words that get removed before or after the processing of natural language data from the computer.

In SEO, stop words are extremely common, they do remove them during the process to save their data.Hence, We make it difficult for Google bots (or any other search engine bots) to index our posts/data quickly.

Here is the List of stop words

Here is an example of stop word:-

SEO optimized premalink

Step #8: No Indexing Your Affiliate/Paid Links.

The most important primary concern of affiliate marketers is how to deal with affiliate links without getting penalized by Search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing).

Maybe your website is based on review niche & you are promoting here a lot of your affiliated stuff/products in your articles. But there are chances in future your blog will quickly get penalized by major search engine Google. Therefore, It is important for you to treat your affiliate links in a legal way. So that your worth article never gets penalized by Google & other search engines.

How To Deal With It Without Getting Penalized?

The Best & only way to get rid out of this problem is by NoIndexing your affiliate links in the content/article.

How to No-Index Affiliate Links: – There are two ways to no index your affiliate links : – Manual Way, Plugin way.

Here is one of the best example given on ‘thehobbyblogger‘s content.

How to make your affiliate links no follow Manually:

If you typically use WordPress’s visual editor, switch to the HTML editor by clicking on the HTML tag.

Step #9   LSI Keywords & Keywords Density

LSI keywords stand for Latent Semantic Indexing & Implementing them in the blog posts is a good SEO Friendly technique. LSI is an alternative term for synonyms/Similar Words.

In early days of the internet, Google used to find the exact match of users query that wasn’t bringing the best results. For Example- (most common example)

When Google discovers a page with the phrase ‘Apple’ then how did Google differentiate whether it’san ‘apple fruit’ or it a mobile brand ‘Apple’. In that case, Google checks for LSI keywords used in the article.

If the content includes the phrases like fresh apple, tasty apple. Red Apple, then Google bots can understand that it’s an ‘apple fruit.’ But if that content includes words like Iphone6s, iPhone features, iPhone jailbreak then Google bots can understand that it is an apple company’s iPhone mobile.

Keyword Density is the number of times a phrase/keyword appeared on the web page or article. In the context of search engine optimization, keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. So it is important to use your primary keywords in the article, but if you overuse them, then your blog will be penalized because overusing the keywords is regarded as Keyword stuffing. The ideal keyword density is between 1-3%.

So it is important to use your main keywords in the article but if you overuse them, then your blog will be penalized because overusing the keywords is regarded as Keyword stuffing. The ideal keyword density is between 1-3%.

Where to use Keywords?

  • In The starting of the Article.
  • In The permalink.
  • In H1 & H2 Tage.
  • In The Meta Description.
  • In the end of the Article.

Conclusion: – I almost covered all the basics to make SEO Friendly Articles & It doesn’t matter if your niche is different from SEO, Tech, Blogging. If you don’t write well for audience & search engine, then you can’t take part in the long run of organic traffic.

If I missed anything else, then let me know I would love to answer your query.

Hi Deepak,

Coming from Neil Patel’s blog.
Really useful tips. Thanks.

I am new to affiliate marketing. Can you please guide how many affiliate links should we have to avoid Google penalty?

    Deepak Rana - July 22, 2015

We can’t determine the specific number. But make sure you website homepage & content isn’t overloaded with affiliate links.Best way to promote products is- write article on them, review them & then add your affiliate link.

    Things to keep in mind-

1.If you are using some valuable services and wanted to share the same with your users then it’s always a good idea to refer using the affiliate link.

2.Over usage of affiliate links on the blog may kill your blog and user base.

3.Earning money from affiliate links should never be your goal. You have to focus on your contents.

Hey Deepak,
Great article man.
Normally, I only take care of the title of my post, make sure that the target keyword is present in the first two lines and add LSI keywords in the heading tags in the article. That’s all I do to make it SEO friendly. Also I add a few images to make it more interesting.
Do you think that’s a good approach?

This is a very indebt post Deepak,
All the above tips are really very very necessary to be applied to any site that thinks of getting search traffic and engagement.

You can’t afford to use vogue headlines on your articles. You must creative enough to craft eye catchy and interesting headlines because, that’s what every first time visitor sees before either sticking around or bouncing back so, you’ve really got to give it lots of attention.

Thanks for sharing.

That’s one of the reasons I’m grateful to have so many Facebook friends from other parts of the world. I don’t consider myself to be very techie, so knowing people like you help! 🙂
